An electronic tool installed in the down-hole pipe that can be programmed to shut the well in, equalize pressures and re-open the hole automatically. This translates into time and cost savings when running different types of pressure tests.
- Minimizes the duration of the wellbore storage effect.
- Improves the quality of the data obtained for the analysis.
- Has 12 complete programming cycles allowing for it to be used in lengthy programs such as interference tests.
- Automatic shut-in/open cycles capability which enables accurate timing of the flowing and shut off well.
- Pressure range: Up to 10.000 psi
- Differential Pressure range: 5000 psi
- Temperature range: 300 °F
- Resistance to H2S: 5%
- Pipe diameter: 2 3/8” - 2 7/8” - 3 ½”
By comparing two separate tests, this graph illustrates the extent at which the storage effect can be reduced: the first with the well shut-in at the surface and the second in a bottom hole shut-in situation.
Data obtained with the surface shut-in are affected by the storage effect and reach radial flow 100 hours after the well has been shut-in while with the bottom-hole shut-in radial flow develops after one hour.
This is how the process of Reservoir Characterization is delivered.
