Reserves are estimated through a series of calculation methods based on specialized software whether based on numerical simulation, volumetric calculations, decline curves, material balance and other.

The latter, a classical method, has a range of variations that involve corrections made in order to make a more realistic analysis of the behavior of the reservoir and consider a not so linear behavioral trend (by reason of the compressibility factor, abnormal pressure).
